Syrians and a Bosnian were among the 10 people killed in the deadliest shooting in Swedish history, which took place at a school in Örebro on Tuesday.
The first details about the victims came from two embassies, as police had only confirmed that individuals of various nationalities were involved. Authorities revealed that the suspected gunman, identified locally as 35-year-old Rickard Andersson, was found dead at the scene, with three firearms beside him.
The regional police chief described the situation as an "inferno" when officers entered the school, with "dead bodies, screams, and smoke" overwhelming them. Lars Wiren spoke of the chaos at Risbergska School, which spans about 17,000 square meters, with people running in and out of the vast building.
Anna Bergqvist, head of the police investigation, stated to the BBC that authorities could confirm the presence of people from multiple nationalities and various ages among the victims.
